Why they differ
The BaZi year pillar turns at Lichun (Start of Spring). Zodiac animal and bone-weight follow the lunar year from the first day of the first lunar month. Between Lichun and lunar New Year, the two can disagree. This site shows both.
Which to use
For pillars, luck cycles, and yearly luck, use the Lichun year pillar. For zodiac clashes and bone weight, use the lunar year. Do not merge them into one verdict.
Which timezone
Gaofeng Mingli uses Hong Kong time for solar terms. Macau and Hong Kong share that zone; Taiwan is one hour apart. Births near Lichun should be converted to the birth timezone first.
